He is not a born champion walking onto the page already admired. He is a wounded teenager forced into a much larger conflict, and the story builds emotional weight by letting that vulnerability stay visible.
The pull of Yscariot is the contrast between private pain and public power. Justice becomes the name tied to his rise, but the character remains compelling because the reader keeps seeing the frightened and human person underneath the heroic symbol.
That contrast gives the series its emotional center.
In the opening material, Yscariot is the lens through which the danger becomes real. The alley incident, the violent encounter, and the arrival of the Sphere of Light do not simply power him up. They force him to confront a new version of himself.
